The International Solidarity Group held an international conference on "Upcoming tasks in the current geopolitical situation"

On April 13, 2024, an online international conference on "Upcoming tasks in the current geopolitical situation" was held under the organization of the International Solidarity Group (ISG). The organization of the conference was supported by the coordinators of ISG representing 8 countries - Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Canada. In addition to the mentioned countries, parliament members, scientists, public figures, diaspora leaders, teachers, lawyers, journalists, political scientists, researchers from France, Belgium, Australia, Jordan, Ukraine, Sweden, Uzbekistan, Oman, Germany, Poland participated in the event.

The Azerbaijani coordinator of the ISG, chairman of the Modern Development Union, political commentator Mubariz Goyushlu emphasized that the Group has been organizing the discussion of problems that concern Azerbaijan and humanity for more than a year and putting forward proposals. M. Goyushlu announced that the ISG is expanding its activities, strengthening its organization, and in the near future, several more countries will join, and the activity will result in the establishment of an international organization. According to him, the world, which is currently experiencing a very troubled time, has entered a tense and sensitive stage due to the conflicts. Saying that they consider it important to discuss this issue as an international group, M. Goyushlu believes that the  proposals and speeches will give some benefits for solving the problems.

The Azerbaijani coordinator of the ISG, PhD in political sciences, political scientist Galib Agha said that it is important to comment on the problems occurring on an international scale. He emphasized that in the future, the ISG will have the possibility of becoming an international organization and the opportunity to exhibit more flexible and effective approaches to events.

Member of Parliament (MP) Jeyhun Mammadov said that they worry about the increase of conflicts in the world and expressed the possibility that the tensions could lead to World War III. Emphasizing that the conflicts also affect the South Caucasus, the MP criticized the inciting role of the Western countries while talking about Azerbaijan-Armenia relations. He said that they worry about tensions in Iran-Israel, Israel-Palestine, Pakistan-India relations. According to J. Mammadov, the tension of the situation in the world requires Azerbaijanis to be more sensitive and attentive. He noted that the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, the opening of the Zangezur corridor, and the protection of internal stability should be our priority. Saying that Azerbaijan pursues an independent policy, the MP stated that we do not participate in the processes against another state from some fronts.

Political scientist Elkhan Shukurlu spoke about the Russian-Ukrainian war and called to be ready for the most intense scenarios in conflicts eihter in the mentioned direction or in other areas of the world. Saying that Ukraine was used in the Moscow-Kiev war, E. Shukurlu quoted S. Huntington and Z. Brzejinski and commented on the situation, drawing attention to the fact that the situation in Ukraine is very difficult. E. Shukurlu said that Russia had achieved its wish, Ukraine was experiencing problems in terms of soldiers and military ammunition. Saying that Ukraine has become a victim of the insidious policy of the West, the political scientist emphasized that the purpose of the created situation was to make Russia hostile to its neighbors.

Journalist Zaman Bajwa, executive director of Kashmir Youth Forum, who joined the event from Pakistan, described the situation by talking about the relations between Pakistan and India. Z. Bajwa said that tensions in the world affect Pakistan's economy and that the people of Kashmir want to live with Pakistan, but India does not allow it. The speaker said that India has a tense relationship with other neighbors and stressed the need for active participation of mankind in solving the problem.

Political scientist Aynur Bashirova, who joined the event from Belgium (Brussels), made a speech about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, made an excursion into the history of the conflict, and said that the roots of the tension are deeper. The speaker said that Palestine was occupied by a number of countries in different years and noted that this situation led to the emergence of the seeds of the conflict. The political scientist, who said that Israel declared its independence in 1948, stated that after this the conflict flared up and led to wars between Israel and the Arab states. A. Bashirova said that the Gaza region was under the control of Israel in 1967-2005, and in 2006, Hamas won the elections and ruled it. She said that Israel and Egypt kept the borders with Gaza closed and opened them only for humanitarian purposes. Talking about the role of Egypt and Azerbaijan in Israel's energy supply, the political scientist also talked about the issues that happened on October 7, 2023, Iran-Israel tension, and its influence on the South Caucasus. At the end of his opinion, he said that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has a great influence in determining the situation in the Middle East, and that there is a serious need to solve the problem through diplomatic means.

Fuad Huseynzade, chairman of the Diaspora Activities Support Organization, said that Armenians are increasing their activity in the world and said that the Azerbaijanis of the world should establish strategic planning against this.

Yashar Musayev, doctor on technical sciences, member of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany, Chairman of the Board of the "Baku-Nuremberg" Culture and Education Center, said that up to two million Ukrainians are refugees in Germany. Y. Musayev said that Germany was against the war in Ukraine, but supported Kiev after the conflict started. He said that Russia was at the head of all conflicts in the former USSR. In the end, he called on all Azerbaijanis to unite around the interests of Azerbaijan.

Mikayil Oyta, the president of the Australia-Azerbaijan Association, spoke mainly about the difficult situation of Azerbaijanis in Iran, the possibilities of realizing the idea of the independence of South Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, and other problematic points in the region.

Khatira Gambarova, the Russian coordinator of the International Solidarity Group, the chairman of the "Russian Azerbaijani Women" public organization, said that it is important for diaspora representatives to be the right voice of Azerbaijan in the countries where they live. He emphasized the importance of not lagging behind other nations in diaspora activities. Kh. Gambarova talked about the cultural projects they implemented.

The Azerbaijani coordinator of the International Solidarity Group, Honored teacher Aydin Allahverdiyev said that wars are implemented for resources, ordinary people suffer from this, and it is important for public representatives to be active in this regard, to do work in universities and secondary schools.

Emiliya Mutallibzadeh, a teacher of the Polyglot Institute, who attended the event from the Sultanate of Oman, said that processes are going in two directions in the world, destructive and constructive. He noted that it is important to start solidarity from the home, family, and immediate environment and move it to the world level.

In the end, it was decided to continuously hold events in this direction, publicize speeches and proposals, and mobilize the international community to solve global problems.

The International Solidarity Group was founded on June 1, 2023. The purpose is to organize discussions, expand opportunities for cooperation, prepare and share proposals, recommendations, statements related to global problems.
