International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation organizes musical literary evening dedicated to works of Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti

The International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation organized an musical literary evening dedicated to the work of the world-famous Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti, as well as a book presentation ceremony of the writer's collection of poems "Breath of Flowers" published by the Foundation in Azerbaijani.

The official part of the event begun with the opening remarks of President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva, the Ambassador of Hungary, the observer country of the organization, to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tamás Yojef Torma, and Head of the Representative Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest Janos Hovari. The event was attended by officials, heads of international organizations, ambassadors, representatives of Foundation member and observer states, as well as well-known cultural and public figures.

President of the Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva started her speech with remarks about the Hun-Turkic union, which has continued throughout history. She said that this reality left an indelible mark on the history of Europe and Asia: "Hungary was the core of this great truth, the center of the Western Hun Empire. The modern Hungarian people are Attila's descendants, his heirs. Thus, for centuries, the relationship between the Hungarian and Turkic peoples was more than friendship. Because the kinship between our peoples is based on a common past, origin, language and culture.”

Speaking about the activities of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Gunay Afandiyeva stated that the organization studies, preserves and promotes the ancient material and spiritual values of the Turkic World worldwide. Advancement of the culture of Hungary, the observer country of the Foundation, is one of the main priorities of the Foundation, and the next project of the organization in this regard is the publication of a book of the poems of Miklós Radnóti, a great poet raised by the Hungarian people, translated into Azerbaijani.

"Miklós Radnóti is one of the classics in Hungarian literature, distinguished by his unique writing style. Along with his bright talent, Radnóti’s bold, outspoken character is clearly visible in his literary heritage. Radnóti was a real national poet. He expressed his civic position regarding the brutalities of fascism and the atrocities committed against the Hungarian people, and wrote this intransigence in highly poetic language," added Gunay Afandiyeva.

Gunay Afandiyeva emphasized that this book, published by the Foundation, will make Azerbaijani readers love Hungarian literature even more, and said that it will serve to strengthen the cultural bonds between Hungary and the Turkic world.

Ambassador of Hungary to the Republic of Azerbaijan Tamás Yojef Torma warmly greeted those who had gathered in the light of the book of Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti, which was translated into Azerbaijani, and talked about the hard life of the poet. He stated that the creativity of Miklós Radnóti coincided with the most difficult period for Hungary. The ambassador stressed that Radnóti, who became one of the victims of the Second World War, dedicated his life to the Hungarian people and instilled love for the motherland with his poems. The ambassador said that the book "Breath of Flowers" is a part of the Turkic world and thanked President of the Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva for publishing the book.

Speaking at the event, Head of the Representative Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, Ambassador Janos Hovari noted that Miklós Radnóti was one of the victims of the tragic events that occurred during the Second World War. Janos Khovari told about the bitter fate of valuable scientists of the Turkic world, Turkologists who took part in the first Turkological Congress in Baku in 1926. Touching on the Karabakh victory won by Azerbaijan two years ago, the ambassador paid tribute to the memory of all the martyrs who died for the territorial integrity.

The artistic part of the event started with the performance of Hungarian music by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Sahib Pashazade. Then, a small performance based on poems of Miklós Radnóti dedicated to the victims of the war was presented, directed by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Nijat Kazimov. The musical literary evening was greeted by the guests with applause and aroused great interest.
